It's not an obsession

Disneyland time!! I decided it was a good idea to go before heading down to Mexico. There is not a set date to come back to the states and I'm sure when that time comes there will not be money to go. There is not much money right now, but my mom has offered to pay for my ticket because she will do anything just to get me to go. Disneyland, my mothers favorite place in the world, if she could live there or go everyday of the week I'm sure she would. When I was younger and working I would call my mom on my breaks and see what she was up to, of course her answer " Oh I decided to go to Disneyland today to come see my friends" My response " Oh it must be nice to go whenever you want." I would not call it an obsession because that would hurt her feelings, she is just a kid at heart and loves all the Disney characters, and she definitely gets her money's worth on her season pass!
So I have been back for three weeks now and my time is half way up, spending time with my parents and brother is the most important thing to me and this way I get to spend time with my mom, take a day off of work, and see all the new rides they have put in since the last time I went. So its a win win for me and my mom. Lets see if I can get a few good pictures while we are there tomorrow.

OK, so when I was young The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie, I watched it so many times I actually broke the tape. My mom had to write a letter to Disney to open the vault and send us a new one, talk about an obsession, I guess that was me not her. Does anyone have a fav Disney movie or have kids that love their fav Disney characters?

Shipping nightmares!! HELP!!

Ok so now that I am back in the states Javier wants me to send some stuff back to him. There is nothing really big, just some clothes, shoes, movies, and some other little things.  Does any one have any good ideas for shipping stuff from here to mexico. I know of only one place to do it from that does not charge you by the weight of the package. They give you a medium size box and you can put whatever you can fit in the box for 150 dollers. OOuucchh. This is kind of expensive but I dont know if i have any other choices. Anyone have any other ideas? 

San Juan de Los Lagos

      When I was in Mexico there were some more trips that we were so lucky to take, but Im a little late sharing them. This was one of my favorite trips because Javiers mom actually came with us. His parents do not get out of the house much especially my suegro, but that story is for another day. Anyway Javier decided to take us on a trip to San Juan De Los Lagos. There was a huge festival in this city I believe the last week of January, it was actually on the news because there was like a million people there. We had to wait until a week had passed, a little calm after the storm.

This was the church that was located in the middle of the town. I was huge and beautifull inside. There were so many people trying to walk through the church that it took us about an hour and a half to actually get in and walk all the way to the alter. Good thing I was not clostrophobic or dont like people touching me, because you had to be very friendly with your neighbor inside. There was not even enough room for me to lift one arm up. Javier described it as walking like a penguin shuffling towards the front.



     

   The details inside the church were so beautiful, I love going to see what the churches look like in all the towns we visit. It was so powerful walking inside this church, you could feel it the spirtit, the love and all the prayers, I cant even explain it other than it was pretty amazing.  I just wish I spoke and understood spanish enough to get through a mass, one day!

Lavantamiento del Nino Dios

 

This last saturday night Javier and I found out that we were going to be the Padrinos of the Lavantamiento del Nino Dios. I had no idea what this meant but I usually say yes to everything. So the Nino Dios is placed in the Nativity around christams and then I think some time in January or right after christmas you are supposed to do this. So we were a little behind! Javier said that we had to wake the baby Jesus up and then put him back to sleep and the padrinos from last year had to bring gifts like the 3 kings did to the baby Jesus. My suegra took the Nino Dios (Baby Jesus) out of the Nativity set and they changed the clothes, then they put him on a dish surrounded with candy. 

 After the clothes were changed  Javier had to hold a candle and ring a bell,  and I had to carry the baby Jesus around to each person so they could kiss the head or cheek of the baby. After you kissed the baby you could grab a piece of candy.

After Javier and I walked around the room my brother in law and his girlfriend did the same thing. We each did this twice and after, the Padrinos from last year had to hand out little goody bags filled with candy, fruit, juice, and Duros. They made these little goody bags that were so cute. I found out after that we would have to make our own goody bags or gifts for next year. I am so excited already, I wanted to start making them the next day. I am really enjoying getting to know all the traditions they have here in Mexico and cant wait till the next holiday comes around.
